Cotranscription of two genes necessary for ribosomal protein L11 methylation (prmA) and panthothenate transport (panF) in Escherichia coli K-12

In order to examine the role of methylation on L11 function, a study was conducted on the prmA gene. The study found that, both in vivo and in vitro, prmA is expressed from promoters located upstream of panF, thus the panF and prmA genes constitute a bifunctional operon.
