description Methods currently used for predicting the measuring point in tracing and measurement are mostly based on the extrapolation technique, which extends the curve constructed from the measured points and the direction vector of the measuring point. This paper introduces grey prediction into the process of tracing and measurement for a CMM. In this method, both the coordinates and the direction vector can be generated in one procedure. The algorithm, combined with the residual sequence prediction, is more efficient and easier to implement than any other method currently used.
