description A new personality model composed of six factors has been proposed by Ashton and Lee (2004), the HEXACO model, as well a self-report instrument, based on this model, composed of 100 items called, the HEXACO-Personality Inventory-Revised (HEXACO PI-R). The purpose of this study is to adapt the HEXACO instrument to Brazilian-Portuguese as well as validate the measure and observe any relationships with the Five-Factor model of personality. Participants were 397 people aged between 18 and 68 years (M = 29.55; SD = 9.09). We ran an Exploratory Factor Analysis that sustained the six factors, with good internal consistency. As expected, correlations with the Big Five Inventory (Andrade, 2008) were higher for Conscientiousness, Openness and Extroversion factors. In general, the results point to the satisfactory psychometric properties and adequacy of the HEXACO PI-R for use with the Brazilian-Portuguese language.
