description | Transport-related air pollution has become one of the most serious issues that are now of mutual concern. An effort that can be done to reduce the impact of environmental pollution is to intensify the use of non-motorized transportation as well as bicycles. Surakarta city is considered to have great potential to apply the concept of bike sharing in order to realize environmentally friendly transportation. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to obtain a model that can explain the probability of choosing a bicycle mode compared to walking. The research was conducted around the location of Pasar Gede, Benteng Vastenburg, Alun-alun Lor, Keraton Surakarta and Alun-alun Kidul. Data were collected through interviews with the Stated Preference method on 230 respondents. The variables were travel time and cost to bicycle mode and walking. Based on the analysis and discussion, the probability model of the choice of bicycle rental in each distance is acquired. The results of the analysis show that the highest probability of bicycle rental occurs when the conditions of walking time are quite long and the bicycle travel time is normal. The lowest probability occurs when the conditions of walking time are normal and the bicycle travel time is relatively long. Both conditions occur in the bicycle rental rate of Rp.4,000/30 minutes. |
