Textual differences in Samuel Beckett's work are attributed to other causes aside from the usual publication blunders and editorial ineptitude. One main cause is Beckett himself who revised his text with nearly every performance and translations, proving that the process of creation does not end with publication. This creates a problem with textual validity, the traditional demand for a single final text that is 'correct,' a practice that Beckett himself does not adhere to. However, this textual fluidity fits right into the poststructuralist, postmodernist framework: the multiplicity of text and meaning.
