Zusammenfassung:There is a difference 1. between persons, who fulfill besides their other duties also that of a townclerk, and 2. between the books needed for work and the books read for leisure. Due to the lack of research it is almost imposssible to identify townclerks who own books, a list of 17 names with hints follows. Three special collections are described: Liebhard Eghenvelder in Pressburg, Gerwin of Hameln in Braunschweig and Peter Freitag in Leipzig.
