Zusammenfassung: | Colon discusses the association between non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS) and type 1 diabetes. He emphasizes the need of attention on the impact that NCGS may be having on the overall health of many type 1 diabetes patients. He reflects on the article by Fasano et al which provides the consensus definition of NCGS as a clinical entity induced by the ingestion of gluten leading to intestinal and/or extraintestinal symptoms that improve once the gluten-containing foodstuff is removed from the diet, and celiac disease and wheat allergy have been excluded. |
