Zusammenfassung:Normal infrared spectroscopy is a transmission experiment. Samples unsuitable for the transmission method can still undergo analysis by attenuated total reflection (ATR) spectroscopy In this technique, infrared radiation passes through a prism with a high refractive index relative to that of the specimen undergoing measurement. With a suitable choice of refractive index and geometry, the infrared beam can be totally reflected within an ATR crystal.
