Zusammenfassung:	Kremlev and Phelps assessed the impact of surfactant protein A (SP-A) and surfactant lipids on the expression of the cell surface markers, CD14, CD54 and CD11b by the human monocytic cell line THP-1. The ability of the macrophage to participate in an inflammatory response is enhanced by SP-A alone or by surfactant containing a higher than normal proportion of SP-A.
