description Moraes JFVN, Batista PLO, Silva MAFM, Pinto EF, Siqueira LP, Almeida CMM, Magalhaes FPR, Santos FD, Brandao JTS, Lima EVC, Carvalho FO. Aerobic and Anaerobic Capacity of Male Students According to Age and Pubertal Stage. JEPonline 2018; 21(2):84-89. The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of pubertal stage on aerobic and anaerobic capacity of male students. In order to do so, 36 subjects (47.88 [+ or -] 10.63 kg; 1.61 [+ or -] 0.11 m; 18.33 [+ or -] 2.86 kg*[m.sup.-2]; 12.64 [+ or -] 0.93 yrs) performed two tests: (a) Yo-Yo Endurance Test Level 1; and (b) Running-Based Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST). In addition, the subjects had their body mass and stature measured, body mass index (BMI) calculated, and self-referred their pubertal stage. Descriptive data analysis (mean [+ or -] standard deviation) and One-Way ANOVA with Bonferroni's post hoc were performed for comparison of the tests between pubertal stages and ages. The significance level adopted was P[less than or equal to]0.05 and the software used was the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), version 15.0. The findings indicate that the older subjects in the pubertal Stages 4 and 5 were faster and presented higher speed, power, and force when compared to the younger subjects. Thus, pubertal stages influence levels of aerobic and anaerobic capacity in school children. Key Words: Aerobic Capacity, Anaerobic Capacity, Pubertal Stage, Students
