Polarization observables in the reaction γd → π0d near η-threshold

Polarization observables in the reaction γd → π0d near η-threshold with inclusion of rescattering effects are investigated. This work is motivated by the recent measurements for the tensor target spin asymmetry T20 from the VEPP-3 electron storage ring at Novosibirsk. Numerical results for the spin asymmetries T2m (m=0,1,2) for tensor polarized deuterons and unpolarized photons are presented. It is shown that the influence of rescattering effects on the tensor target spin asymmetries is sizable, specially at extreme backward direction. We also compare our results with the recent measurements from VEPP-3, and find good agreement with data.
