Oxygen toxicity in a polyamine-depleted spe2(Delta) mutant of Saccharomyces cerevisiae

The spe2Delta mutant of Saccharomyces cerevisiae was studied to determine whether the phenotypic effects of polyamine deficiency are affected by oxygen stress. Data support the postulation that polyamines act, in part, by protecting cell components from damage resulting from oxidation.
