Plataforma robótica de exploración y verificación como apoyo a unidades operativas de la Policía Nacional en su lucha contra bandas criminales y el terrorismo

This article presents the results of institutional research developed by the “Escuela de Telemática y Electrónica de la Policía Nacional de Colombia” in 2008, and comprehended scientific and technological process which had as central objects of study the optimization of the remote-robotic platform for exploration and the improvement of National Police operational units support verification in their tactical actions to combat criminal gangs and terrorism. The research at an early stage has been developed by students from the school in 2007, and at this new phase was examined the technical viability to integrate to the platform a visual tracking system using a wireless network camera and the installation of sensors to improve their characteristics operations, among others, to minimize the many risks faced daily by members of security forces at the process of exploration or verification of an area or a potentially dangerous element.
