Threat of typhoid-fever epidemic hangs over Tajikistan

A resistant form of Salmonella typhi threatens to reach epidemic proportions in Dushanbe Tajikistan. It is estimated there are around 5,000 cases in the territory, and it is feared the number could climb as high as 50,000 or 60,000.
