Reproduction and spacing of Piping Plovers breeding at high density at Appam Lake, North Dakota

Knowledge of potential breeding density and associated reproduction is critical for conserving Piping Plovers in the northern Great Plains. Each year during 1995-98, Murphy et al observed 34-50 plover pairs nesting on Appam Lake in northwestern North Dakota.
