description This study is a conceptual paper that will investigate the relationship the effects of transformational leadership, transactional leadership, laissez faire leadership, and servant leadership on employees' performance within the Nigerian context. Precisely, employees from small and medium scale industries in Adamawa State, Nigeria would form the sample of current study. Survey research approach would be used where questionnaires would be distributed to a target sample. This study would be the first of its kind to investigate the effects of four different leadership styles (i.e. transformational leadership, transactional leadership, laissez faire leadership, servant leadership) simultaneously on employee performance. The study would identify which of the leadership styles would be more suitable for Nigerian small and medium scale industries. This study would practically provide bases for improving effective functioning of the Nigeria's private sector, particularly the table water industry. The model of this study would guide stakeholders of the small and medium scale industries to understand the leadership styles that help to improve their employee performance.
