Zusammenfassung:[...]we developed transgenic mice exhibiting mTOR overactivity in lung ECs, alveolar epithelial cells (AEC), or SMCs. Methods and Results: Studies of lung specimens and derived cultured cells from patients with COPD and control smokers showed that cell senescence in COPD was linked to mTOR activation and that mTOR inhibition by low-dose rapamycin prevented cell senescence and inhibited the proinflammatory SASP.
