Zusammenfassung:An abstract of a study by Nottingham et al describing perspectives from participants of the National Athletic Trainers' Association Foundation Research Mentor Program on effective formal mentoring in higher education is presented. Results revealed that participants considered regular communication, clear expectations, and investment in the relationship were characteristics of effective mentors and mentees. Participants who collaborated on scholarly activities during their mentoring experience perceived this to be a highly valuable aspect of their experience that facilitated regular communication and the potential for a long-lasting relationship.
