An efficient one-pot synthesis of pyrimidin-2(1 H )-ones via three-component condensation of aldehyde, ethyl acetoacetate and urea using 1,4-bis(triphenylphosphonium)-2-butene peroxodisulfate [BTPBPDS] as an oxidant is described.
