/// This paper analyzes Mexico's experience with stabilization and structural reform during the period following the debt crisis of the early 80s. The analysis concentrates on the period of large capital inflows in the early 90s. These large inflows, which resulted from the successful control of inflation, the signing of the North American Free Trade Agreement, and the reduction of world interest rates, had as their unfortunate outcome the exchange rate and financial crises of December 1994. The paper includes a brief analysis of the economy's prospects.
