Lithium associated with reduced risk of cancer in patients with bipolar disorder

A new study suggests that lithium is associated with a reduced risk of cancer when compared with anticonvulsants in the treatment of bipolar disorder. The study found significant trends of lower risk of cancer with increasing cumulative doses of lithium.
