description This paper presents the experience of an interinstitutional and intersectorial articulation project designed by the Barra Funda Health Center for the development of a network of services that may intervene in the social exclusion process suffered by the different groups of residents of São Paulo's central area. The experience identified the project's potential and its legitimacy as a strategy to articulate the several sectors (non-governmental organizations, healthcare and education philanthropic institutions, community organizations, governmental agencies and services related to healthcare and social welfare) to formulate common actions. Through meetings in the institutions and an effective record of services and professionals, the group was able to acknowledge belonging to this network, recognizing this relation as significant and as an answer to its needs. This experience resulted in the of a care home, developed to receive individuals in social exclusion conditions and in need of immediate care for a short period of recovery.
