description This paper presents experimental data for the reduction of a tsunami inundation and wave force provided by porous wave-barriers installed in onshore area. The model experiments of single and double barriers were conducted to give a better understanding of influences of the types, size and number of barriers for tsunami mitigation. It turns out that the porous barriers can effectively reduce the wave forces acting on the barrier and the inundation flow behind the barrier. The reduction effects on the inundation flow and wave force are mainly governed by the types of barrier and the relative incident wave height to barrier height. When the incident wave height is larger than about half the height of the barrier, the reduction of inundation flow provided by the second barriers is larger than that provided by the first barrier.
