Zusammenfassung:Nickel Peroxide (Ni-PO) was shown to be useful oxidizing agent for a preparation of substituted benzoic acids from the corresponding benzaldehydes in aqueous alkaline solution. Some kinds of aromatic carboxylic acids were also effectively obtained from the corresponding aldehydes in a similar way. The mechanism of these oxidations were discussed.
