Mechanism Design for a Dual Cycloid Reducer

In this paper, we considered a dual cycloid reducer(DCR) which consists of a planet gear with shortened epitrochoid and its conjugate ring gear. The geometric relations between a meshing gear pair were investigated to find the conjugate ring gear profile. It reveals that the three design parameters...

description In this paper, we considered a dual cycloid reducer(DCR) which consists of a planet gear with shortened epitrochoid and its conjugate ring gear. The geometric relations between a meshing gear pair were investigated to find the conjugate ring gear profile. It reveals that the three design parameters including the pin radii, the eccentricities, and the trochoid ratios should be identical to each other between meshing gears. Through the computer simulation for two examples, the proposed meshing conditions for the DCR are verified successfully.
