description | Studies of fuel-assembly vibrations pay special attention to pre-reactor bench tests with partial modeling of the reactor operating conditions [1]. Full-scale models of fuel assemblies make it possible to reproduce the most important design features affecting the vibration processes under reactor conditions. Normal attachment of a full-scale model in the column of a hydrodynamic bench, wide variation range of the coolant flow rate in a fuel-element bundle and formation of the required flow structure, including with large-scale vortices at the inlet into a fuel-element bundle, all make it possible to obtain the required quantitative data on the vibrational characteristics of fuel assemblies. At present, there are too few data on the dynamic characteristics (natural vibrational frequencies, apparent mass, damping constant) of fuel-element bundles in a longitudinal turbulent coolant flow. The present communication describes the results of experimental studies of the dynamical characteristics of fuel-element bundles in modeling the attachment of the top and bottom nozzles of the VVER-440 fuel assembly under the conditions in a reactor. |
