ChemInform Abstract: An Asymmetric Synthesis of trans-Fused Butyrolactones from Endoperoxides

A convenient and single‐pot method for the synthesis of the title lactones is developed, which also gives access to natural products, e.g. xanthanolide derivative (IX).
