Prehled existujících dulních del a montánních tvaru a prurez historií dobývání rud a pruzkumných prací v Obrím dole (východní Krkonose)/A list of the existing mines and surficial mining landforms and an overview of the history of polymetallic deposit mining and present explorations in the Obrí dul valley (Eastern Krkonose Mts)

The thesis summarizes the results of the historical mining explorations of the polymetallic deposit in Obrí dul in the eastern part of the Giant Mts (Krkonose in Czech, Karkonosze in Polish). The mines and the surficial mining landforms were mapped in detail and divided into 41 groups, 28 of which are demonstrably mines. Their characteristics are given in the overview and the Kovárna mining complex with chamber stopes, the most important mine in Obrí dul valley and also in the whole Krkonose Mts, is described. Mainly arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite and to a lesser extent pyrrhotite were mined between 1511 and 1931. The divergence of views on the deposit genesis is discussed, together with the contradictions in different publications about the mining history and, in some cases, the discordance between field research and historical documents. The paper provides new results of the explorations carried out by the Ceská speleologická spolecnost Alberice (The Czech Speleological Society) from 1988 to 2010 and information about the accessibility and running of the open part of the Kovárna mining complex for tourists.
