description Water as the main volatile component of magmas has a great impact on the physical properties of melts, the temperature of rock melting, and the composition of cotectic melts formed by their partial melting. The first experimental data on water solubility in magmas at high pressures were obtained by R. Goranson in 1931 [1]. Since that time a huge amount of experimen tal material on water solubility in melts of different compositions has been accumulated [25]. As a result, the structural position of water in the melt was established and different structural and thermody namic models that describe the behavior of water in magmatic processes were suggested [6, 7]. However, these models are often not consistent with the experi mental data on the structure of natural hydroussili cate melts. We investigated the state of hydrogen bear ing forms in natural glasses of basaltic composition for further investigation of water behavior in natural melts.
