Modeling of regional geodynamics using geological data

Examples described in literature of geodynamical modeling using seismotomographic data are consid ered. The ill posed nature of regional modeling and vagueness of the obtained results, which are caused by the artificial character of the conditions set on the boundaries, are discussed. A new approach to regional modeling, with the conditions set to regularize the solution in accordance with the mathematical theory of ill posed problems, is suggested. The modeling of Mesozoic geodynamics of the Arctic region, with reg ularization based on historical geological data, is stated.
