Zusammenfassung: | Lorentzen suggests that instrumentation analysis must take place in the practical, acoustic reality of actual performance. While normally no connection is assumed between acoustics and polyphony, the former considered an exact science and the latter an aesthetic discipline, electronic music presents a field where both intertwine. It is here that free polyphony emerges as preferable to orthodox polyphony. The use of other devices such as echo, parallel voicing, and heterophony are here elaborated and discussed in conjunction with example scores of each, including excerpts of work by the author himself. |
