Discusses the libretto and score of this meditation on the tragic fate of the Russian poet Mayakovsky for which the composer made use of extended musical techniques. Describes the staging by Achim Freyer in a performance conducted by Johannes Kalitzke which starred Matteo de Monti in the role of the protagonist.
