description | In line with the growing concern of third sector organizations in relation to their management practices and also with the growing interest of scholars to study them, this paper aims to analyze the organizational structure of an NGO, the "Escola de Dança e Integração Social para Criança e Adolescente" School of Dance and Social Integration for Children and Adolescents (EDISCA). A descriptive qualitative research was used that consisted of a case study, taking as a parameter the theory of configurations by Mintzberg (2008). The study is supported by document research and primary data collection by in-depth interview. Data analysis used the technique of content analysis that allowed inferences to be made, taking as analysis units the coordination mechanisms, the design parameters and the situational factors related to the theoretical approach on which the research is based. It was concluded that the entity studied presents a hybrid configuration due to the evident presence of features mostly related to the configurations called Machine Bureaucracy and Adhocracy. Although presenting opposite features, such configurations reveal a scenario common to entities such as EDISCA that tend to adopt increasingly effective management practices, adjusting informal and flexible elements, typical of the third sector, to more rigid and structured systems of planning and control. |
