Zusammenfassung: | Smart Grid is a next-generation power grid system, which uses information technology for achieving efficiency, reliability, interoperability, and scalability. Advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) is a very important part in smart grids. In this chapter, we present a comprehensive study of various aspects of AMI of smart grids. We illustrate the characteristics of smart grids and features and components of AMI and provide a brief description of characteristics of communication networks and message transmission modes in AMI. We provide a brief study of security requirements, vulnerability, and security attacks in AMI of smart grids. We explain the need for key management scheme (KMS)/protocol for security in AMI, illustrate the issues in the design of KMS, and provide a detailed description of various security protocols. We present a comparative study of various protocols on the basis of security and other parameters. |
