Zusammenfassung:This chapter addresses challenges in radio link and system design in indoor scenarios. Given the fact that most human activities take place in indoor environments, the need for supporting ubiquitous indoor data connectivity and location/tracking service becomes even more important than in the previous decades. The chapter addresses three specific technical challenges: modelling complex indoor radio channels for effective antenna deployment, potential of millimeter-wave radios for supporting higher data rates, and feasible indoor localisation and tracking techniques. In the forthcoming years, due to the increasing popularity of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), massive MIMO and wide- and ultra wideband (UWB) transmission schemes along with the increasing use of small cells, the conventional propagation models will no longer suffice. This chapter introduces methods for accurate characterisation of channels and advanced channel models, detailing about dense multipath components, different channel simulation methods and modelling techniques for MIMO and UWB.
