To be able to answer the main food industry request, regarding product safety and equipment reliability, a literature search is necessary to identify the key maintenance engineering techniques to be selected to develop the maintenance design and implementation process. The scope of this chapter is to present a short highlight of some of the product safety techniques, equipment reliability principles, and maintenance engineering techniques chosen to support the maintenance design and implementation process.
