Zusammenfassung:The vibration response of initially stressed tapered beams to rotary inertia and shear deformation is studied by generalizing the finite-element formulation by Venkateswara Rao et al. (1976). The free flexural vibrations of initially stressed tapered beams with geometries that vary lengthwise can be described by means of this finite-element formulation. Variations of the frequency parameters are presented for different geometries, axial loads, and boundary conditions. (C.C.S.)
