Linear fits to RAA as a function of pT in 5-20 GeV/c show that the slope is consistent with zero within two standard deviations at all centralities, although a slow rise cannot be excluded. Having different statistical and systematic uncertainties, the π0 and η measurements are complementary at high pT; thus, along with the extended pT range of these data they can provide additional constraints for theoretical modeling and the extraction of transport properties. |

C</jtitle><date>2010-07-29</date><risdate>2010</risdate><volume>82</volume><issue>1</issue><issn>2469-9985</issn><issn>0556-2813</issn><eissn>2469-9993</eissn><eissn>1089-490X</eissn><abstract>New measurements by the PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider for η production at midrapidity as a function of transverse momentum (pT) and collision centrality in √sNN=200 GeV Au+Au and p+p collisions are presented. They indicate nuclear modification factors (RAA) which are similar in both magnitude and trend to those found in earlier π0 measurements. Linear fits to RAA as a function of pT in 5-20 GeV/c show that the slope is consistent with zero within two standard deviations at all centralities, although a slow rise cannot be excluded. Having different statistical and systematic uncertainties, the π0 and η measurements are complementary at high pT; thus, along with the extended pT range of these data they can provide additional constraints for theoretical modeling and the extraction of transport properties.</abstract><cop>United States</cop><pub>American Physical Society</pub><doi>10.1103/PhysRevC.82.011902</doi><orcidid>https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4202-3740</orcidid><orcidid>https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3701-8119</orcidid><orcidid>https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7662-3878</orcidid><orcidid>https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1275-7292</orcidid><orcidid>https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0866-7523</orcidid></addata></record> |
