Zusammenfassung:Metapeneaeus monceros is a penaeid prawn that is used as a pollution indicator in estuaries and other marine waters. Hepatopancreas, gill, stomach, muscle, and brain were excised, homogenized and incubated with various concentrations of aldrin to determine its effect on acid phosphatase and alkaline phosphatase levels. For both compounds, there was a dose-related inhibition of activity with aldrin. Maximum inhibition of acid phosphatase occurred in the hepatopancreas with the highest concentration of aldrin. Minimum inhibition was noted in the muscle at the lowest aldrin concentration. Alkaline phosphatase levels were most inhibited in the stomach at the highest aldrin concentration and least inhibited in the brain at the lowest concentration.
