Zusammenfassung:Burghild Nina Holzer was born and raised in the mountainous regions of Austria. Early on, she emigrated to the United States where she has lived ever since. Holzer, a teacher of German and/or Creative Writing at California State University in San Francisco and, more recently, at the Bay Area's Foothill College, writes in German as well as in English (and even in both tongues simultaneously) and has published poetry and translations in journals and yearbooks such as Litfaß, Jahresring, and Dimension. Her topical text "Kolumbus hat Amerika nicht entdeckt," printed here for the first time, forms part of a longer bilingual "work in progress."
