Selected Psychosocial Aspects of the Aged / היבטים פסיכו-סוציאליים נבחרים של הזקנה

In the process of growing old, there is a tremendous importance to the physical, emotional, and social state of health of the person involved. A good state of health prevents emotional and social deterioration, while bad state of health accelerates deterioration. In this paper a case study illustrates the daily problems, characteristic of old age. The problems are analysed according to theoretical models from the professional literature. The emphasis was set upon some psychological and social factors and their interaction with the physical and functional state of the old person, and with his/her capability to cope with problems independently. The paper points to the practical implications of old age problems, as a basis for preparing a comprehensive program of caring for the old person in the community.
