Distribution of neodymium laser energy between modes

An experimental investigation was made of the spectral statistics of the radiation emitted by a Q-switched neodymium laser. The emission spectrum was recorded with a resolution equal to the model spacing. It was found that the density of the probability of the appearance of an axial mode of a given...

description An experimental investigation was made of the spectral statistics of the radiation emitted by a Q-switched neodymium laser. The emission spectrum was recorded with a resolution equal to the model spacing. It was found that the density of the probability of the appearance of an axial mode of a given intensity was described by an exponential function and the mode intensities were not correlated with one another. The results were in good agreement with the hypothesis of the fluctuating nature of laser radiation. (AIP)
