Testing with different insulation defects in GIS and comparing between the waveforms of the UHF measurement, the features of the different PDs were investigated, and the PD form recognition was performed. Based on the results of the UHF PD measurement and the conventional PD measurement, the PD quantities of the defects in GIS were estimated.
