Zusammenfassung: | A model having five interconnected component blocks is presented for evaluating multidisciplinary team experiences. These blocks feature project selection, use of skill sets, team dynamics, faculty mentoring and project reporting. Similar to the coarse-grid ABET's matrix used to assess the implementation of the overall continuous improvement process, this fine-grid model applies specifically to the multidisciplinary teams outcome. Five levels ranging from very limited activity (Level 1) to a highly developed capability (Level 5) are identified for each component block. The model has been applied at the University of Kansas, USA, to improve team experiences for electrical, computer, and mechanical engineering students in undergraduate control classes having 10 to 15 teams each spring over a three-year period. All teams performed at Levels 1 and 2 during the first year; many teams this year performed at Level 3 for most model components. Student teams are being asked now to provide their own assessments of component levels. |
