description Magneto-optical (MO) amorphous rare earth – transition metal (RE-TM) films are considered to be good candidates for high-density laser information recording systems. The study of magnetic microstructure and it's connection with MO parameters is of great interest to increase MO efficiency of the media. MO effects in RE-TM amorphous film in the visible wavelength region are known to be associated mostly with the magnetic state of the TM-subsystem. Mossbauer spectroscopy (MS) is one of the most efficient methods to obtain data on the magnitude and direction of TM magnetic moments. The aim of this work is to find a correlation between MO effects and Mossbauer spectrum parameters, as well as to clarify the details of the TM-subsystem microstructure.
