description | Site selection of wind farms for energy industry in Egypt is a challenge task. It involves multiple criteria investigation (environmental, technological, economical) So far, there is no definite mechanism in Egypt for wind energy farm decision making that consider all sets of conflicts to optimize the site suitability, the technology potential for optimal cost effective wind energy production before initiating any project. This project establishes a new Geographic Information System (GIS) linked to a Multi Criteria Decision Support System (DSS) for wind farm site selection at a cost effective energy production industry. The surface area of Egypt is about 1,000,000 km2 and the project can be considered as "Siting Atlas" that can cover the country with enough information of ranking and prioritizing potential wind farm sites at high resolution and economical of initial investment, operational, and the financial cost for private sectors incentives. |
