Label-free biosensors based on athermal silicon-on-insulator waveguides and a harmonic dithering technique

We report a new high-sensitivity biosensor using athermal TM-mode SOI resonators with bulk and surface detection limits of 4.7×10 -7 RIU and ~100fg/mm 2 . Simple DFB harmonic dithering feedback techniques obviate spectrometers and tunable lasers.
