description The development of maintenance theories for high-speed trains experiences breakdown maintenance, preventive maintenance, reliability-centered maintenance and dependability-centered maintenance. Issues related to maintenance, such as maintenance status, maintenance features, maintenance mode, maintenance system, maintenance level and trends, are reviewed in this paper. Scheme of maintenance level and system for China's high-speed trains is formulated base on related high-speed trains in different countries. Because of short operation time, the actual influence safety degree is not yet fully understood for maintenance system. Establishing the failure information database for the related train types and the maintenance system fitting China's vast territory and complex operation conditions is put forward in this paper.
