The analysis of bearing-only positioning performance effected by positioning track

The bearing-only positioning method locates targets by bearing intersection theory, that positioning error is sensitive to the ship track. So it does make sense to choose a proper positioning track based on analysing its effect to the positioning performance. In this paper, bearing-only positioning...

description The bearing-only positioning method locates targets by bearing intersection theory, that positioning error is sensitive to the ship track. So it does make sense to choose a proper positioning track based on analysing its effect to the positioning performance. In this paper, bearing-only positioning error distribution is researched in theory. And the positioning error of straight line track and the arc track are calculated. Based on simulation and outfield experiment results, a conclusion that the arc track has better positioning performance than the straight line track is obtained. Finally, in order to take both advantage of the two track, a searching track combined with straight line and arc is put forward as a final design.
