description | Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) system provides lot of advantages when introduced in a wireless communication system. It helps in increasing system throughput and reducing error rates. Moreover, designing a MIMO system to support both multi-user and multi-cell provides larger increase in system throughput and allows an increase in number of users. This comes at the cost of how to design that system such that the interference generated is minimized. In this paper, a precoding scheme for multi-user multi-cell MIMO system is proposed to mitigate the interference generated in the downlink direction. To design the precoders, we use a metric called signal to generating interference, leakage and noise ratio (SGILNR), which is a combination of two previous metrics: one that was used to design the precoders for a multi-cell system and the other that was used for a multi-user system. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperform the conventional MIMO system. Also the limitations of the proposed scheme when number of users becomes higher are discussed. |
